Bipolar

Bipolar disorder, formerly known as manic-depressive illness, is a complex and chronic mental health condition characterized by extreme mood swings that include periods of intense emotional highs (mania or hypomania) and lows (depression). These mood episodes can range from manic episodes with heightened energy, euphoria, impulsivity, and grandiosity to depressive episodes with profound sadness, fatigue, hopelessness, and suicidal thoughts. Manic episodes may last for at least one week and can be severe enough to require hospitalization.
